Click

The slider clicks, raising the bullet into the chamber. The safety clicks as it releases. I step calmly into the hall and aim at the nearest moving creature. High heels click as they scatter across the tiled floor. I squeeze the trigger and the recoil pounds my forearm. The empty magazine clicks as it hits my boot. I reload and in the chaos find my next target. The men in blue push against the current of panicked bodies, looking for a shot. Something is said over a bullhorn. I raise the pistol to my head and pull the trigger, click.
